The state of Arizona has implemented the Freedom of Information Act. This means that the local residents of the state are given access to their personal documents. One of the files that the residents of Arizona can access is the Arizona marriage records.

There are several reasons why the people of Arizona request for a copy of their marriage certificate. One is to conduct a genealogy research. The document has information that is important in updating the family tree. It can help track the whereabouts of family members. The marriage certificates are also required when dealing with government transactions. Transactions such as insurance and other financial matters would usually call for such documents especially if it requires proof of one's identity and status. The document is also used to verify the marital status of an individual. This is usually done by people who wish to make sure that their partner is really single. Ironically, petitioning for divorce would require the marriage license. Without it, the petition may not be processed since the marriage may not have occurred in the first place.

A marriage certificate would contain information about the marriage of a couple. The document would show the real names of the bride and the groom as well as other personal details such as the date and place of birth. One would know when and where the marriage took place as well as the names of their parents. Additional information includes the names of the witnesses. If either the bride or the groom has been married before, it would also be indicated on the certificate.

In Arizona, the Department of Health does not release a copy of a marriage certificate. One can only get it from the office of the county clerk where the marriage took place. The state office can only assist in checking the information you have and to give you instructions as to where and what to do in order to get a copy of the said document. The counties of Arizona do not follow a standard fee for the request so charges may not be the same for all.

The document can only be requested by the couple themselves and their immediate family. Other people can access the records of other individuals if they can secure an authorized request. One has to know the basic information of the record that is being requested in order to have the request processed. One can give the names of the couple and the details such as the place and the date when the couple got married. Once the necessary information is provided, the search can be simplified and hastened.

To speed up the search process, requesting for copies marriage license records can now be done through the use of the Internet. The Internet has made the search easy and fast. It has improved the wait time since the results can be obtained almost instantly. With this, there is no need to spend too much energy because the request can be done even at the comforts of your own home.
