For many girls, they are as excited about having a Sweet 16 party as they are about getting a driver's license or car. This is a truly a huge occasion in her life, and you definitely want to create a happy and memorable event. This can be tricky, but it is usually much easier to plan a party if there is a set theme. If you are having trouble coming up with a great party theme, let the following examples inspire you.

For an all-girl party, consider transforming a room of your house into a high-class day spa. The girls can enjoy facials, hair styling, a make-up demonstration and even a mani-pedi. Pass out posh robes for each of the girls and when they leave, hand them special bags filled with make-up, hand lotion, mini perfume bottles and nail polish. Be sure to have a smoothie bar and set up a buffet with fresh fruits, veggies and tea sandwiches and salads for a true spa experience.

Of course, she can invite both boys and girls if you choose a theme such as a decade party. Celebrate the 60s or 70s and have the kids dress up in a costume that fits the era. Play music and serve food that was typical of the day, as well. A Hollywood or Academy Awards theme is another fun idea, and you can even give out awards for the costumes such as Best Diva or Most Creative.

If you have a big backyard, especially one with a swimming pool, you could plan a pool party, a Sweet 16 luau or a beach party. Obviously, this only works if the weather is warm enough, but if you have a summer girl, it can be a great theme. Tiki torches and string lights can decorate the backyard allowing the party to extend beyond the daylight hours. For the meal, stick with a fun barbecue or perhaps a Hawaiian feast.

In addition to the main theme, you will want to pay special attention to the dessert. While cake is always an option, it's a bit commonplace, so it might be fun to opt for a special treat such as chocolate pizza. This gourmet confection is produced by Chocolate Pizza Company, and not only is the taste divine, even the presentation is impressive. Each of the pizzas is carefully packed into a real pizza box. Imagine the surprise of your daughter and her friends when they open a pizza box and find a gourmet chocolate pizza inside the container.

The company's signature chocolate pizza begins with the finest gourmet dark chocolate or milk chocolate blended with freshly made English toffee. This "crust" is then sprinkled with a blend of pecans, almonds and walnuts and drizzled with a bit of fine white chocolate. You can also opt for toppings such as M&Ms, peanut butter candies or even the Happy Birthday pizza, which can be customized with the name of your special girl. In addition to the pizzas, Chocolate Pizza Company sells chocolate-covered potato chips, chocolate-covered pretzels, truffles, almond bark and much more. Their other main specialty is Peanut Butter Wings, which are created by mixing crispy potato chips with creamy peanut butter and dipping this concoction into dark or milk chocolate. Any of these treats can be added to ordered and placed on your Sweet 16 dessert bar.
