Depending on the level of importance attached to the function, meeting the planner may be necessary. This also depends on the budget that is involved. Such meetings come in handy because the most experienced planners may not be necessarily the best hires, thus meeting them helps to ascertain their level of ability.

Working closely with them helps to enable one to do a follow up on what is being done. Most times when people are disappointed, it is because they did not follow up on what their planners did. This would help to ensure that everything is done to the satisfaction of the client. While everything can be done effectively by most planners, working closely with them gives better assurance.
