MFT license holders can choose from a plethora of websites to get online CEU courses for MFT license maintenance. These Continuing Educations Units must be taken by practitioners in most states to extend their licenses. Drug abuse and addiction counselors, social workers and other therapists, nurses and nurse's aids all need to do this work. They can log into any of these sites and do the work and sign off.

First, make sure that the site has the relevant information for the license in question. Psychologists and health care workers will need to ensure that the classes are relevant to the state they live in. Search on the relevant state and degree or license and the proper site will come up. Watch for sites that offer a lot. They may seem to have everything, but dig deep to be sure.

Check the topics on the site. A lot of sites can have everything from human resources information to certified nurse's aids. It's a wide array. For therapists, there will be classes touching on sex, sexuality, gender identity and sensitivity, sex and society and healing sexually. Addiction counseling classes, home violence to partner or elder abuse shows up in these searches.

After deciding on the site, go over the exam. A lot of the sites offer the test for free, so the therapist can use the test as the guide. It's the course that costs the actual fee. And if this is not the case, the site will have some kind of outline for perusal.

The actual class is very simple. A person needing one CEU or Continuing Education Unit will need to take a one hour class or see a video of equal length. Since most of these sites are about literature review, the minimum requirement is 4,000 to 5,000 words. This equals about thirty pages in a book or 4 pages of a journal.

Since this process occurs on the web, the process couldn't be simpler. Carve a few hours out for the whole process and find the appropriate site. Research that the topics that need to be covered are there. All the reading necessary will be available on the site itself. The passing score is generally seventy to seventy-five percent.

It might be good to point out that if time is a factor, study the test first and then peruse the web for general information to get the mind ready. Then, when time permits, log in to the website with the actual test and do the work. Most of these courses will be more like reviews for licensed marriage and family therapists, but the a quick review in advance can't hurt.

The best way to maintain certification is online CEU courses for MFT practitioners. No longer do therapists have to carve out time to go to some distant hotel just to arrive and discover that only one or two classes is even relevant. Now, in the therapist's quiet time, these CEU classes can be taken online, finished and checked off the list of things to do. All around a much better way of doing things.
