Things You Need To Know About Being A Charity Auction Organizer

When you have been appointed as the charity auction organizer, you will have quite a lot to arrange. However, with a few guidelines it is not such a daunting task. Auctions arranged for fund-raising purposes can also be referred to as silent auctions, and are an excellent way to make money for a good cause. Those who end up buying at the event will also feel good because they are donating to a worthy cause.

Silent auctions have this name because the bidders do not call out their offers. Rather, a piece of paper is made available and those who want to bid will write down the prices they are prepared to pay. Later in the evening, the event manager will call everyone together to say who is the lucky receiver of the item. These auctions are not just about bidding, they are also an evening out, with dinner arranged.

Quite often, these events are big, with a large number of people on the guest list. Therefore, for efficient organization, a group of people will need to help with the arrangements. The team should work out how much can be spent on decorating, the venue, advertising and catering, and should appoint various people to arrange different tasks. A large event will usually need about 15 to 20 people on the organization committee.

The planning of the event is very important, and will ensure that everything goes well. The people involved can get together and decide who will be handling each task, and where the event will be held, etc. The venue is important because it must be somewhere large enough for all the guests, and should be convenient for most as well.

The food and drinks are an important part of the arrangements to be made. The main attractions will be the items for sale, however, good food to go along with this will make the event a great success. Everyone can relax and enjoy themselves if there are no mistakes made with the catering. They will also appreciate drinks with their dinner.

Many different things can be auctioned at this type of event. Usually, donations will be gathered from various businesses, and in return for the donation, the business will be advertised at the function. The items can be small with a lower price range, or they can be large and expensive items. Just make sure that the items will be things that your guests find appealing and interesting.

Besides donations from businesses, you can also consider homemade crafts or gift certificates. Services can also be used. You will need to have some large display tables, or pictures of the items if they cannot be brought into the room. Services will need to be described to the guests in some appealing way.

It is most often the case that the charity auction organizer will have to decide at which price the bidding will start. The prices will usually start quite a bit lower than their shop price. Make sure that plenty of people will be coming to your event by marketing it properly, or by sending lots of invitations.
