In every home, bathrooms are normally the most used room. Due to this the tiles become worn out, scraped, scratched and they develop a dull appearance. No matter the quality of tiles, tub or counter in your bathroom, after some time the wear and tear will be very damaging and end up leaving a film of grime and grout that will make the entire room to appear very dirty. Remodeling the bathroom may cost you a lot of money so it is better to refinish it. Bathroom tile refinishing Dallas requires some tools and a little effort. Though it may take some time, it is possible to do the work on your own.

There are many different bathroom-refurbishing products available in the market today. While some are used one without having to combine with any other product, for others you have combine with other products for them to be more effective. These products are available in most hardware stores, but you need to ensure that the kit you choose match the type of tiles installed on your bathroom. This kit comes with everything in one convenient package, which contains rubber gloves, cleaning pads, special powdered concentrate as well as industrial strength epoxy.

The first step is to prepare the surface. One can sand the surface tiles using a course sand paper to rough up the area for the new paint to be applied. It is possible to sand paper using your hands though an electric hand sander will make the work easier and quicker. A dust mask should be worn when sanding to protect your airways.

After that, clean the dust away to be able to see if every part has been sand. This will also help you to see all the dents that need to be filled. Use filler putty that is specific for tiles. Then, give the filler time to dry well. Once dry, you should sand the surface again to ensure that the filler putty blends in with the tiles.

Protecting your working area is a crucial step. You can protect the area by using a tape especially on the wall that is to be painted. You can use a painter paper, tape or cloth to cover faucets and other bathroom accessories. Covering them will help to prevent spraying them.

It is now time to apply the first coat. A brush or a low-pressure spray gun can be used to apply a thin and even first coating of epoxy on the surface. A respirator has to be worn for protection. After you are done applying the first coat leave it for at least one day to fully dry before you start applying the second coat.

When you are satisfied that the surface has dried well, you can apply the second coat. The second coat may need like five days to dry completely before you can use the room. Using the area too fast before proper drying has been ensured can disrupt the setting and leveling of the epoxy which in turn causes uneven breaks that will look very unprofessional.

Though most epoxy tile refinishing Dallas kits come in white color that match standard bathroom tiles, you can add a universal tint to make it have a light shade color. Since it is white, you cannot change epoxy into a darker color. Before using epoxy finishing make sure that the surface is properly cleaned and dried.
